There's a Mouse in the house!

Hellllooooooo there!

Tis me!! The eldest of the bunch, Or Mouse as I am known during my crafty adventures. Mum hinted that I might join you all and I think it took all of 5 seconds to twist my arm into being here hehe.

Now I'm going to start on the right foot. If we are going to be lifelong blog buddies then I need to be honest about something...

I have a problem...

My name is Mouse and I am addicted to Hooking!

Holy yarn balls, That felt good to get off my chest, But don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for any kind of cure, unless the cure is yarn, yarn and a whooole stack more!

I believe my love of all things artsy and craftsy started at a young age. Some of my earliest memories are smushing playdoh into fun shapes and various bubble paint crafts at nursery and home. From then on, the love grew with me. In fact one of the first thing's I remember crocheting was a three square, granny square blanket for my barbie's bed, while on a weekend trip to Grandma and Granddad's and now here I am, some 15 years later with one blanket made for my king size bed and another one on the hook.
My Mum and Grandma have always been my guiding light's through my various crafty adventures and have never failed to nudge me in the right direction and shower me with endless encouragement. It is because of them that I am the nifty little hooker I am today and I honestly cannot thank them enough, for all the joy my craft has brought me so far.
So crochet, I don't want to say I am a pro at it, because on more than one occasion a pattern has taken the aerial route across the living room . I would say I'm more of an intermediate with a few neat flares.

Now I, like my Mum, Cannot even contemplate relaxing unless my hands are busy with something or other, and I can't seem to stick to one project at a time. So I often have several hooks on the go, plus any number of other types of projects dotted around the living room. As Christmas is approaching, I have a couple of little projects taking up a good portion of my crafty time and I can't wait to share them with you.  I will snap some pictures as I go along to show you all, but for now you will have to wait until after the big day, so we don't go spoiling the surprise.

Over the next month or so, I will be working on a little something to offer you all. a little gift from me to you. In the meantime, here is a little hint'a'roo of what it might be.

Toodles for now.

Our Very First Blog and Adventure With Tatting...

Two Craft Cati's are self confessed craft addicts, we are mother and daughter sharing the same name and passion for crafting. We are Tatters, Hookers, Quilters, Lace makers, Embroiderers, Knitters and love particularly to study and practice the vintage crafts keeping them alive and thriving.

The two Cati's are myself Cathryn and my middle daughter Cathryn, known as Cati. We are based in Perth Australia but originated from England where our third member of the team lives and crafts with equal passion, and we are hoping she will share her beautiful work and inspiration with you all very soon, she's affectionately known as 'Mousey Brown' and we look forward to introducing her to you soon, we love and miss you very much Mousey.

Introducing myself, I am Mom Cathryn, and I have three beautiful daughters and one son, who also lives in the UK with his little family. I have always loved crafting and initially I was completely self taught, although I have studied many peoples work, and attended classes over the years and thank all those who have helped me to learn my crafts.

My three daughters have all caught my passion for crafting and all produce beautiful work of their own in various crafts. I am a person who cannot just sit and relax, I relax by creating and love to share my skills with my daughters, it's wonderful to have a hobby and skill that you can pass onto your children and share with them.

Cati and I recently decided to have a go at tatting, I've always loved lace crafts and have dabbled in bobbin lace making back in England but haven't managed to source the supplies I need yet to start my lace making again here in Australia, and as the tools are very simple for tatting and our trusty 'Spotlight' had them stocked we decided this would be a good skill to learn.

We found a few wonderful video tutorials on the internet and we were away.
This is my very first tatted bracelet made in one afternoon, thanks to One Virtuous Woman, it's just awaiting a clasp and chain but will soon be adorning someone's wrist, and I'm already working on improving the basic design with picots and tiny seed beads and more intricate patterns.

Cathryn Junior is known as 'Kitty' and will be posting herself very soon under that very name.
Kitty shares my passion of the old crafts and loves the challenge of learning a new skill and so we ventured into tatting together. Kitty is the middle of our three daughters and her eldest sister in England loves owls, This is her first attempt at an owl from an earring pattern, she has made a lovely heart shaped pendant since this and hopefully she will share it with you very soon.

We hope you enjoy visiting our Blog and look forward to making Crafty friends. We are all first time Bloggers so please be patient.

                                                                      Happy Crafting!!
